Dr. Mabuse is a criminal mastermind, a master of disguises and hypnosis.
The character was created by Norbert Jacques, but was popularized mainly by the three Mabuse films by Fritz Lang: Dr. Mabuse the Gambler (1922) The Testament of Dr. Mabuse (1933) and The Thousand Eyes of Dr. Mabuse (1960).
This is English translation of the original 1921 German novel by Norbert Jacques, "Dr. Mabuse, der Spieler" ("Dr. Mabuse, the Gambler").
